Our Village Trip To Tubusereia

The day before our village trip to Tubusereia, we wrote down questions to ask the villagers. The next day, when we arrived at school we were all buzzing with excitement. After the bell rang we headed off to the buses and all boarded the buses as chatterboxes. We wanted something to do on the bus so we asked Damian (our bus driver) to turn up the music. I think you can guess what we did next! Of course, we sang. I NEVER KNEW 5D WERE SUCH GOOD SINGERS!
When we arrived at the village, we all got off the bus. The teachers told us to watch out for broken bottles and dog poo. The first thing we noticed was how good the church was! After that we went on a bridge which was on stilts and had mini bridges coming off the main bridge leading to houses. We learnt a lot of things from our class assistants who are actually from Tubuseria.
We walked up the highest hill in the village to look over Tubuseria. While we were walking we saw a lot of locals staring at us because they don’t see visitors in their village often. We didn’t  know how to respond, and because we really disliked people staring at us, we ignored them instead of saying “Hi”. HOW RUDE OF GRADE 5! When we finally reached the top of the hill all puffed, we found out that the view was AMAZING! We had a class photo up on the hill. You could see everything from up there.
Once we walked back down the hill we went to visit the primary school. As we reached the school and the first thing we saw was a class outside, sitting under a shelter made out of sticks and leaves. When they were writing on their desk (a piece of wood), it would keep falling off. We found out that they were quite shy of us when we asked them questions. We also found out as a class that they learn the same things as us and , amazingly were also called 5D.
The school had a recess break and we got to play with the kids. We were so happy! The TEMIS boys got to play soccer with the local boys and the TEMIS girls played with the skipping rope and jumped with the local girls. There were only three girls that jumped and the rest just crowded in to watch. As we started to pack up, we handed over the skipping ropes to the girls and the soccer balls to the boys. But the boys didn’t know what was happening so the local boys asked the TEMIS boys if they could play soccer again. Unfortunately, we had to go.
As we drove off through Tubuseria, the local kids chased our bus, waving, smiling and we were sorry we didn’t talk to them at the beginning. We also saw the high school on the way out.
There was less singing on the trip back. We were all exhausted, but we had a GREAT time.
