Hi friends it's Poro here,
This is my last post from NOOSA as we will all be flying home tomorrow. What a great last day we have had. This morning after breakfast my Grade 6 friends polished up their Orienteering skills and this afternoon they went body boarding. They really had fun and came back to camp this afternoon looking tired but very happy. I spent the day with my Grade 5 friends and we had such a great time. This morning we learned Archery. I was careful to sit in the shade and watch the instructor closely and because I had been patient, and had stayed behind the wait line, they allowed me to have a go! I found it quite difficult and it was nowhere near as easy as it looks! I was helped a little by my friends but it was very tricky for me, being so small, so I think I should stick to foraging in my own way. There were many students who had never done Archery before and during the session I saw some impressive shots! Well done to Alerik who hit a Bullseye and very well done to Jordanna and Kailani who managed to aim so accurately they hit the small balloon, that was tied to the target board, in one of our games. There were other friends who showed some great technique too: Ryan L, Robert L and  Emmanuel all had a really good aim and technique. Yay! Well done guys! This afternoon we went Orienteering. I, as you know, have a good sense of direction so I didn't need a compass but my friends did very well to find the markers. It was a great attempt all round. Well done!
It's time to come home from camp now. I have had a lovely time on camp with Grade 5 and Grade 6. I have lots more stories to tell you all. So I will sign off now and I will see you all in Assembly next week.

Wednesday 21 October 2015

Hi Friends, it's Poro here,
Yesterday was such fun. I was busy from morning till night and by the time I finished the day's activities I was really ready for my bed!
Again we all had a hearty breakfast, my friends really loved the sausages that were included in the cooked breakfast but I loved the fruit, especially the juicy watermelon. After breakfast I spent time with my friends in Grade 6. They were learning Camp craft. The students were all really excited. They learned about the survival items that are carried by our guides when they take us hiking and cycling. That was really interesting. Then they learned about how to make fire! They were shown how to make a nest using Paper Tree bark and then they used a flint to make sparks. Every group  managed to make a flame and light their nest. I was a little frightened by this so I decided to stay close to Miss K and Mr Healy for safety. The next part of camp craft was the best. We all got to work in small groups to make shelters. The students were very good at this and I would have been happy to spend the night in any one of the shelters. I'm pretty good at this myself and I was impressed by their efforts. After lunch Grade 6 went to Archery. They really enjoyed this. I was too small to hold the bow and I had to sit with Miss K, so I could keep safe. However, the students thought it was great and once they had finished we all went to play on a huge bounce mat. I joined in with this as I am very good at bouncing.
After dinner we had even more fun. We went on a night Hike. This time I went with my Grade 5 friends. They made me promise not to go off hiking on my own as it was so dark in the bush and Mrs Farrow stayed close to me just incase we met other animals. It was great fun, especially when the Grade 6 students ambushed us and made us all jump out of our skins!
By the time we got home I was so tired I fell asleep straight away and so did all my friends.
That was another great day. It's the last full day of camp tomorrow and we are going to make the most of it! It's Archery and Orienteering with Grade 5! Yippee!

Winding Up

Another adventurous and fun-filled day! and was it ever HOT out there.. we all learned some survival skills today such as: how to start a fire using different materials (magnifying glass, battery, flint & stone, etc.) then moving on, we some a took a small trek out to the bush & in teams, built tee-pee styled shelters. Archery was also a fun-filled event which even involved a few "plover attacks".. Everyone was laughing hysterically at Mia's facial expression and massive sprinting speed when a bird came at her very quickly and accurately. She was spared thank goodness :)

Here are some of the events of the day:

Today, what we did, was stand up paddle boarding. Most of our shoes got very muddy and two people lost one of their shoes. Next, we went into the woods and we made a shelter as well as made a fire using flint and steel.

This week we went body boarding it was AMAZING!!!!!!! We would catch some HUGE waves. We also went to a giant swing too, it was sooo COOL!!!! After we did a crate climb it was cool we would climb up and try to stack the crates  AMAZING!!!!!!!
Jordanna Muddle Gr.5

This week Noosa Adventure Camp has been amazing. We have done so many fun and exciting activities. One fun activity was archery because I got attacked by a bird, but I missed the target most of the time. Paddle boarding was really fun and relaxing, I only fell down once. We also went on a giant swing, as we went up I could feel the adrenaline in my body, and when I pulled the rope and swung it was so amazing. Noosa has been amazing so far and its the funnest time I have had with my friends.

This week, at the total adventures retreat we have done so many different activities such as; mountain biking, body boarding and camp crafts. In mountain biking we started off with just riding around the retreat, then we went into the woods and rode around there for a while. Body boarding was one of my favorites, it was also the first time I've ever body boarded. We also did camp crafts and we learnt how to build a shelter out of wood logs and made sparks and fires using flint and steel and magnifying classes.
Tyla-Monique Seddon  Gr. 5

This week at Noosa Adventure Camp we did so many different activities like camp craft, the giant swing, stand up paddle boarding and archery. Tomorrow, we  are going to do body boarding and orientating with Poro, Ms.K, Mr. Healy and Ms. Kenyon. later on today we went on the faint pillow and the pool, i keep pushing Joaquin over and he pushed me over as well. I think Noosa Adventure Camp is the best camp i went to in my life!!!!!!!!

Hi friends, it's Poro here!
I am so excited. This morning I get to go Stand-up Paddle Boarding with my friends. Yay! This afternoon we will learn how to make a camp fire, build shelters and learn about outdoor safety. I know most of this, of course, but it will be good fun for my friends to learn a little about my outdoor lifestyle! They are keeping me really busy here but it's great fun. I will let you know how today goes.

Another wonderful day had by all! it is busy & loads of fun, so the time goes by very quickly. It is almost dinner time again & then we are getting geared up to host our 'Talent Show Evening'. The kids are excited to perform & have been practising in their rooms the last few evenings.

The quiz nights after dinner have also been entertaining. Mr. Healy has been putting the students through some challenging mental exercises and some of the more laid back activities (like the 'Cinderella' skit) have had us all laughing that even some of us were crying! All we have to say is Mason Black & Nicolas Godden are 2 very talented and creative young men!

Below are a few more comments about the day. Enjoy :)

Today we went on the giant swing and we did paddle bording. At paddle boarding we stood on large boards and paddled. At the giant swing we got to go on the Leap of Faith & it was scary! but after doing it, I wanted to do it again.

Today was hilarious! especially when the Grade 5's went Mountain biking. Some of the bikes had more bike gears but my highlight was when me and Odette went the wrong way. I stopped but Odette didn't break in time so her tire hit my thigh and she was laughing so hard she fell in the bush. It was awesome I felt like doing the whole day again!!!

Today was amazing! especially when the grade 5's went to the beach to go boogie boarding. My friends and I hit some pretty strong waves. Then we went mountain biking. I stayed back with some of the others. It was really fun and I am so happy that I learnt how to ride a bike! today was super-kali-fragalistic-expiala-doscious!!

Hello Friends, it's Poro here,
Today my day was a little bit strange and it didn't turn out quite as I planned!
I enjoyed myself sitting with friends at breakfast. That was one yummy looking breakfast, cereals, juices, bacon, scrambled egg, tomatoes and toast. Then I sat in the sunshine watching my Grade 6 friends playing frisbe. However, I am very ashamed to say I did something I was not supposed to do. I decided to go for a hike on my own. Yes, I know, it was very silly of me!
I thought it was fun to begin with, the sun was shining and I could hear the birds singing, but very quickly I realised I was in a place I did not recognise at all. I became very frightened and I wasn't sure what to do. I tried to retrace my steps but eventually, after going round and round in circles, I decided I had better stay where I was until someone found me. I looked around and saw a little cosy patch near the BBQ and I nestled down for a little rest. I was pretty scared. However it wasn't long before I heared Mr Healy calling my name so I jumped out of my hiding place and he took me back to all my friends. I am never going to wander off on my own again!
As a consequence of my behaviour I wasn't allowed to join in the fun this afternoon. I missed so much fun today. The Grade 6 students took turns on the big swing and they completed the Crate Climb and Leap of Faith. This afternoon they went stand-up paddle boarding and they all mastered it! The Grade 5 students went body boarding on a beautiful beach this morning and went off for Mountain Biking sessions this afternoon. Well done to my brave Grade 5 friends Elizabeth, Emmanuel, Ryan, and C.J. who learned to ride a bicycle today and also to my Grade 6 friends Annabel, Joaquin and Ella who learned to ride a bicycle yesterday! Way to go!
I am allowed to attend the evening activities tonight and it will be such fun. The students are all creating performances and we are having a talent show! I'm very excited as there is so much talent among my friends. I got a brief glimpse of this last night during the after dinner games. The Cinderella game had everyone laughing so much and the Ugly Step- sisters played by Mason Black and Nick Godden had us all crying with laughter!
Oh I can't wait for tonight.

Noosa Adventure Camp 2015

Monday 19th:
First full day today and we say"full",we really do mean FULL! It begins with a very early wake-up call, breakfast & straight into activities. These run for 3 hours with very well-trained instructors & a mid-tea break in between. The groups today have learned canoeing skills, mountain biking skills and one group already having even been on the Giant Swing. Check out some of the comments below.

Today we went canoeing which was awesome I fell in the water, we saw Stingrays and we played a Battle Ships  game.

Rafting as a team
I never EVER go outside. Guess what? I actually had fun!!! It was awesome. The canoes were great and I learnt how to ride a bike in an hour  (without training wheels!) would do it all again. (except when I fell over. That hurt!)
Annabel.C.Romano  Gr.6

We've only been here two days and I feel like collapsing! Yesterday, we went on a very long and tiring hike to the beach. We all enjoyed playing in the ocean. Today, we woke up SUPER early, enjoyed a hearty breakfast, and then spent the rest of the day doing more tiring activities. Canoeing and mountain biking to be precise. Over all we had great day!

Hello friends it's Poro here!
All I can say is " Everything is Awesome!" Today I had an amazing day with my friends. We started off with a hearty breakfast of cereal, fruit, toast and pancakes with lots of juices. Then we were off on an adventure. My friends In a Grade 5 took me to the Big Swing. I'm quite used to swinging around from high trees but for them it was exciting and it got their adrenalin pumping. I was impressed by their head for heights! They all were hoisted so high and  really picked up speed as they swung! They didn't want to leave me out so Mr Smidt took me on the Big Swing. It was so exciting and at one point I really felt like I was flying... I had a bit of a rest this afternoon, following my morning activity but I am really looking forward to seeing my friends at dinner and to Mr Healy's fantastic after dinner  quiz and games sessions.

Noosa

Hello everyone!

We arrived yesterday safe and sound to the lovely area of Noosa. The flight went smoothly and the students were very well-behaved.
