Last Day!

Monty watching the Olympics
Hi everyone,

We are all making the most of our last day in Alotau today. We will be sad to leave, even though we are excited about seeing our families again tomorrow.

This morning we continued with some of the activities we started yesterday such as canoeing and orienteering and we also all took part in the Wanigili Olympics.

Last canoeing session

After lunch we were tested for our canoe licences. We also spent some time filling in our workbooks and practising for the camp concert tonight.

Later on, we also had a chance to buy some souvenirs as some of the local craft sellers came to the education centre to set up some stalls for us. We are pretty happy with our purchases!

We are trying to make the most of our last evening here and are very excited about the camp concert. Before we know it, we'll be packing our bags and on our way back to POM.

Please check the blog tomorrow morning for updates on our flight as we will let you know as soon as we hear any news of possible delays.

See you tomorrow!

Rainy Wednesday

The rain has been thrashing down most of the day but it's not stopped us!

We worked in our teams all morning and rotated between different activities. We all took part in some Initiatives - team building games, we also did either canoeing or orienteering. We will be completing the activity we missed out on tomorrow morning.

"Canoe Hikers" practising back-flips on beam
"Hibiscus" doing Tarzan impressions
"#1 Team" walking the plank
After a quick sandwich and pizza-bread lunch, we took a trip on the diner trucks to the oil palm plantation.

Having fun on the diner truck
At the plantation we met a nice lady called Joanne. She answered all of our questions and gave us a tour. Two interesting facts about Joanne; today is her birthday, and she is an ex-student of Murray School!

On the plantation

We're back at the education centre now and have just started preparing our team performances for the Camp Concert which will take place tomorrow. After dinner tonight we will all be outside playing night games! We're really looking forward to it!

AN EXCITING DAY TWO

Today, we set off in diner trucks for a half hour ride to a place called Ladava Beach at the western end of Milne Bay. We enjoyed swimming and snorkeling and just hanging out together.

Life jackets help us float without effort while snorkeling.

Digging in the sand was fun!

After swimming and a picnic lunch, we headed through the village and learnt that this site was where the Australian and American army bases were during WW2.
