Day 1-3

Hi Everyone, we have spent the last 3 days travelling around the Cairns tablelands. We arrived at Cairns airport and hopped straight on the bus to McDonalds for lunch!! Everyone was very excited!!

We then travelled up the mountains to the hinterland and stopped at Lake Eacham for a refreshing swim. The water was beautiful and clear. After that we continued on to our accommodation at Mungali Village. That night we walked down to the waterfall and we got to see some glow worms... it was pretty cool!

Yesterday we did activities including mud sliding, raft building, team activities and we all got a few turns on the flying fox into the dam. Everyone was very wet and dirty, but the weather was perfect and kept us all warm. Before we had dinner, as the sun was going down, we all went for a walk to the creek to try and see a platypus. Luckily there were 2 in the creek and everybody to got to see one...... our guide told us that less than 10% of Australians have seen a platypus in the wild, so we were pretty lucky to see one. They were much smaller than some of us thought, some of us also saw some firefly's when it got dark We also saw some turtles in the creek as well. After dinner all the students got to perform a skit, the teachers were the judges, some of the acts were ok...... and some of them were pretty bad.... but we wont tell you which ones!!!

Today we drove to Milaa Milaa falls and all got to have a swim under a waterfall.... although the water was freezing. It was also raining a bit so some people got cold and didn't go all the way to the waterfall. We then dried off and drove to The Boulders, a really nice rock pool where the water was super clear. The sun eventually came out for us and nearly everybody was swimming around and playing cricket in the water for over an hour. We finally all got back on our buses and headed for tonight's accommodation in Cairns...... where we finally got phone reception!!!

Now we have some time to go to Cairns Central and get some shopping and call everyone who has been missing us from home. Tomorrow we head to Kuranda and the Beach House tomorrow night where wont have reception. Our next update will be on Sunday afternoon.
