Enjoying Kokoda

ENJOYING KOKODA

Yesterday, the group enjoyed an hour and a half walk along the beginning of the Kokoda Track to Hoi Village. This was a fairly level walk at a leisurely pace. Everyone enjoyed being out, away from the city. The village of Hoi is beautifully situated on a small creek at the base of the Owen Stanley Range.

At about 6pm yesterday, the skies burst open and it poured for six hours. The students played 'Musical Tents' as some were washed out during the night. However, the Kokoda Spirit porters came to the rescue, erecting extra tents for the students!

The students have enjoyed their second day. They have been taught by the porters how to make bush stretchers (as the Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels made them for the soldiers during the war. They are heading over to the Kokoda Community School this afternoon for some activities with those students.

Other activities have been playing the guitar, playing various games such as Capture the Flag and swimming in the river.
